PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Waterfront Blues Festival opened Thursday with Grammy winning blues singer Keb' Mo' as the headliner.

The bluesman has Grammys from 2005 for "Keep it Simple", the Best Contemporary Blues Album winner in 2005; for 1999 for "Slow Down", in 1999 and "Just Like You" in 1997. His most recent release is last year’s “Suitcase.”

The Blues Festival, which benefits the Oregon Food Bank, continues to be a key weapon in the state's fight against hunger.

New: Backstage VIP/multi-day passes

For the first time, fans can purchase a multi-day pass for $60 for the four-day event. It entitles fans to early admission to festival seating, and guaranteed admission when the viewing area reaches capacity.

For $1,000, fans can get backstage passes, admission to festival-related parties, the fireworks show and barbecue.

Donations: What food to bring

Regluar admission to the festival is a suggested donation of $10 and two cans of food. The Oregon Food Bank says to bring canned meats or meals, grains, canned fruits or powdered milk. Don't bring anything in glass. Leave the alcohol, soda, unpackaged and non-commercial products at home.

On stage: Complete schedule

Keb' Mo' headlines Thursday night at 9 p.m. on the Miller Stage; Johnny Winter comes on Friday at 9 ; Bonerama on Saturday at 9 and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Sunday at 7:50 p.m.

Logistics: Drive, bike, Tri-Met

Weather:The latest forecast

It's supposed to be sunny and warm when things kick off Thursday.

That forecast is supposed to hold for the big fireworks show at 10 p.m. at Waterfront Park on July 4th.
