PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland kick-ballers attempted to break a world record this weekend while raising money for the Oregon Food Bank.
The kick-ball game between the “Pork and Beans” and “Fruit Cocktail” started Saturday at Overlook Park in North Portland and ended 233 innings later, on Sunday afternoon.
The game lasted 33 hours, six minutes and 53 seconds.
Money was raised for Oregon Food Bank through sponsorships, donations and pledges. On-field food collections were also accepted.
The “Fruit Cocktail” team won the game, 166-158.
Some 210,000 people in Oregon and southwest Washington eat meals from an emergency food box each month, according to the Food Bank.
