06:50 AM PDT on Tuesday, May 6, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. -- For the second year in a row, Portland's Grant High School finished third in the "We the People" constitution competition.
Teams from across the U.S. were in Washington D.C. on Monday to take part in a simulated congressional hearing in which students demonstrated their understanding of constitutional principles and defended positions on issues ranging from affirmative action to wiretapping.
Denver's East High School repeated as national champion and a team from Richmond, Va., finished second.
Grant has finished in the top three in four of the last five years.
