An ODOT camera at Santiam Pass captured this rare "snow shark" on Tuesday.
A prankster planted a fake shark fin in a snow bank, making it appear as if a shark was lurking beneath the surface.
According to the Statesman Journal, which first reported the prank, transportation officials noticed the prop Tuesday in front of their TripCheck highway camera. It looks east from Highway 20 near milepost 63.
ODOT had no immediate plans to remove the dorsal fin, because it wasn’t a roadway hazard.
“We weren’t planning on it,” said ODOT spokesman Adam Torgerson.
