Blood donor dog retires after giving 30th unit

Luke, a black Labrador retriever, had been donating blood at DoveLewis every three months for eight years.

Last month, he retired after giving his last unit of blood.

Luke is almost ten years old. He is a part of a large family of donors. His younger siblings, Drake and Katie, have been donating regularly for years.

Luke's seven-and-half-months old sister, Callie, is learning the ropes and will be eligible to enter the program after her first birthday.

DoveLewis veterinarians say they are always looking for new blood donors.

Do you know a potential DoveLewis blood donor dog?

The pooch must be at least one, healthy, never been pregnant, never had a blood transfusion, is current on vaccines, weighs at least 55 pounds and has a good disposition.
