I had decided to go to Trillium Lake and shoot some star photos, but with all of our cloudy weather recently, I hadn't heard much about aurora activity. Right before I left, however, I discovered that the Kp (the measurement of aurora activity) was really high. I got to Trillium right a little bit after 10 pm, and about 20 minutes later the skies really began to glow. The show went on for several hours, getting brighter and then dying down. It was my first experience with the aurora borealis in Oregon, and it was really exciting.
