Russ and I and my daughter Faith and her boyfriend Joe and their dog Chloe went hiking up Mt. Adams south summit, cold spring trailhead Sunday morning 9/9/12. We left early in the morning to start our hike, the roads were open, air was clear, except for a faint smell of smoke. We could see the fire way off in the distance from the mountside. While hiking up, we were monitering the fire off in the distance, and from our vantage point we could see it pretty clear, we saw many flare ups and saw the smoke billowing overhead. At one point the smoke blotted out the sun turning everything a shade of red. These photos are from our hike up. Not so much down. as we were in a bit of a hurry. We had decided it was probably time to turn around when it appeared that the fire had grown much bigger.
