While I might be the queen of money saving, my mother is the queen of furniture redo's. Seriously, I think she might be the female version of Ty Pennington. I thought I would show off a recent project that found it's way into my dining room.
This is the old door my mom picked up for just a few dollars. I know the picture is blurry but you get the idea as to what it looked like.
My mom typically paints the item first then covers it in stain and roughs it up a bit to give it that antique look. That's exactly what she did here as well. You'll notice the blue doors next to the table, that's another project that also ended up in my house actually.
She simply attached square blocks of wood to the bottom for legs and wood along the edge. Very simple stuff, nothing fancy here. If you happen to have an old table, you can reuse the table legs for this too. If not, wooden posts work just fine, you can pick those up cheaply at Lowe's or look around and see if you have any on hand.
At the end of the day, this is what it looks like in my dining room. The red chairs were originally stained but repainted to match my previous table. We will add glass to the top to keep the crumbs from falling in between the grooves but overall, I think it looks pretty cute!
