PORTLAND – Downtown Portland businesses are vying for those who want to keep holiday shopping money in the local economy.

The city is in its third year of promoting the “pop-up” shops downtown.

The city has again donated the space rent-free to chosen local designers and artists in vacant retail space. More: Pop up shops in Portland

It allows property owners to showcase their vacant space for future, permanent tenants. Stores in downtown Portland will have special events Sunday, December 2nd and 9th, with free parking at SmartPark garages if you enter between 12-2 p.m.

“SupPortland” is a network that allows shoppers to rack up points to use at participating stores and businesses.

Just sign up to join. And there are more than just products – several salons, art studios and gyms also offer services.

Also – the folks at Portland’s Dill Pickle Club are offering some Oregon history and culture gifts that also help support their organization. The Dill Pickle Club is a volunteer group that sponsors tours, public programs and publications about the place we live.
