PORTLAND - Portland's annual Christmas Tree lighting is set to kick off the holiday season in Pioneer Courthouse Square on Friday at 6 p.m.

The 29th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. and feature a community sing-a-long led by Thomas Lauderdale and members of Pink Martini and friends. This year’s event will also include “Oregon’s Own 234th Army Band," the Pacific Youth Choir and many more.

KGW news anchors Brenda Braxton and Russ Lewis will host the event.

The annual tree lighting attracts about 15,000 people to the square on the busiest shopping day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving.

The spectacular 75-foot Douglas fir tree was donated by Stimson Lumber Company.

The event will be shown live on KGW-TV and streamed live on kgw.com.
