VANCOUVER -- The popular swimming hole, Klineline Pond has been deemed "off-limits" due to a health threat.
Several people who swam in the pond developed an intestinal infection afterwards. The illness, called Shigellosis occurs when bacteria is passed through human waste.
Klineline Pond is located at Salmon Creek Park, just north of Vancouver. The park will remain open but the pond has been closed.
Health officials will be testing and monitoring the water to determine when the pond will be safe to re-open.
Anyone who recently swam in the pond was warned to watch for signs of the illness. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and cramping.
