WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A recent study found that new moms may develop Obsessive Compulsive Disorder after giving birth - but in most cases, it's only temporary.

Researchers found that 11 percent of women who had given birth within six months had significant OCD symptoms, compared to only two to three percent of the general population.

The study found that most of the moms with OCD were especially overwhelmed about concerns involving germs. Others were compulsive over whether their baby monitor was working, if the crib was properly latched or whether their baby’s bottles were sterilized correctly.

Researchers said the OCD symptoms were usually temporary and most likely caused by hormonal changes.
