A new study about fruit flies shows they don't drown their sorrows in rotting bananas - they do it with alcohol.

The study in the Science journal showed researchers found that fruit flies deprived of mating turned to alcohol-spiked food as a consolation, much more often than flies who were sexually satisfied.

The jilted flies had lower levels of a brain chemical, which is linked to drinking in humans.
