PORTLAND -- The Portland Metro area has seen several cases of influenza, specifically the H1N1 virus, in the past few weeks and health officials are reminding people that vaccination is still an option.

"Although doctors are not seeing the same volume of patients as the H1N1 epidemic in 2009, some of the cases have been quite serious and even life threatening," Legacy Health spokeswoman Amber Shoebridge said Friday.

"The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) says the flu season can last until May, so there's definitely still time for you and your family members to get the vaccine," she added.

Shoebridge said even those who don't have symptoms of the flu can still be carriers and spread the virus to others.
