PORTLAND -- Oregon Attorney General John Kroger has hired Morrow County District Attorney Elizabeth Ballard to help prosecute health care fraud in the state.
Kroger said Tuesday that Ballard will join the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Oregon Department of Justice.
Since Kroger took office in January 2009, the state has recovered nearly $20 million from pharmaceutical companies that defrauded Oregon consumers and the state Medicaid program.
Ballard is a 2002 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law and was elected Morrow County District Attorney in 2006. She will join the Oregon Department of Justice in March.
