New research suggests taking cutting up your dinner into smaller bites could help you lose weight.

Researchers at Arizona State University gave whole bagels to one group of people.

The other group got a bagel cut in four pieces. The researchers found that the group given the cut-up bagel ate 25 percent less at their next meal.

Experts say eating four pieces may have tricked their brains into thinking they had more food, while a full bagel is seen as a single portion.
