RESTRICTIONS NO MORE: Three years after placing severe restrictions on the diabetes pill Avandia, the Food and Drug Administration removed those limits Monday because the drug no longer appears to increase heart attack risk.

PRESCRIPTION KILLER: Sales of Avandia have plummeted since researchers first suggested in 2007 it might increase heart attacks. Three years later, the FDA began requiring patients to sign a waiver before getting the drug, among other restrictions.

NEW VIEW: The FDA said it decided to repeal the limits based on a new analysis of a key study, which shows Avandia is as safe as other diabetes medications.
