WILSONVILLE, Ore. – A memorial for the estimated 50,000 bees that died last week will be held on Sunday, June 30 in Wilsonville.
According to the event’s Facebook page, the Wilsonville Bees Memorial, organized by Portland resident Rozzell Medina, will “memorialize these fallen lifeforms and talk about the plight of the bees and their importance to life on Earth.”
The two large bee die-offs that the memorial will honor occurred last week in Hillsboro and Wilsonville.
On Monday, the conservation group Xerces Society pushed lawmakers to ban the pesticide Safari that was used in the trees where the die-offs occurred.
Investigators confirmed the Wilsonville bees died as a direct result of the pesticide
