PORTLAND -- Beginning Tuesday night, some of your plants may need protection to make it through the cold days ahead.

At Portland Nursery workers said camellias may need to be covered and that shallow rooted plants in pots should be moved under cover.

More: Record cold could lead to 6 inches of snow Saturday

"The mid-teens are where it gets a little dicey,” said Ken Whitten with Portland Nursery. “I was down here at 4:00 a.m. last event, refueling heaters and doing what I could."

Giving a good soaking before the coldest temperatures arrive can also help protect the roots of vulnerable plants.
