PORTLAND – Special drop-off sites have been set up to collect and properly dispose of campaign yard signs.

From there, the signs will be properly recycled.

Residents in Gresham or Wood Village can take their used signs to the recycling station set up outside of Gresham City Hall. People living elsewhere in the Portland Metro area can take signs to collection Far West Fibers collection sites.

Organizers said plastic parts of the signs will be recycled and the wood stakes will be donated to a local charity that will give them to people as kindling for fireplaces or wood stoves. The metal wickets will be used in making more signs for future campaigns.
