PORTLAND – AAA of Oregon and Idaho has unveiled its mobile charging truck for electric vehicles.
The truck uses a natural gas generator to power the charging equipment.
A quick roadside recharge can help an electric vehicle make it to the next charging station, according to AAA spokeswoman Marie Dodds.
“The truck can charge a depleted EV on the roadside, providing 10 to 15 minutes of quick-charge time at either 240 volts AC or 440 volts DC,” she said. “This will allow the electric vehicle to be driven three to 15 miles.”
It's one of six AAA mobile charging trucks nationwide.
