The Seattle Department of Transportation is planning to install 7 miles of neighborhood greenways throughout the city.
Greenways offer residents a way to travel between neighborhoods without jumping behind the wheel of a car.
It costs SDOT about $150,000 per mile to install greenways. The work includes crosswalks for bicyclists, and traffic islands better road markings to help protect cyclists and pedestians.
