BRANDI CARLILE GOES TO GREAT LENGTHS FOR GREAT RANGE

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Brandi Carlile always wanted to be a good singer, even more than a good songwriter or a good guitarist or piano player. Carlile says she's been doing things all her life to improve her range -- like yodeling. She says her grandfather could yodel and as a child she was obsessed with yodeling. She'd lock herself in her room to figure out how to do it. She says, "I'm sure it sounded hilarious."
