AUSTIN -- There are stockings by the chimney, a Christmas tree and Christmas wreaths, but the old white ranch house just outside Johnson City isn't just awaiting Saint Nick -- it's awaiting visitors curious to see the Central Texas home of president Lyndon Baines Johnson.
Thursday marked the birthday of LBJ's wife, Lady Bird Johnson, who passed away in 2007. Lady Bird would have been 99 years old.
The house now belongs to the U.S. Department of the Interior and is managed by the National Park Service as a national historic park. On Thursday, NPS caretakers opened the couple's private living area to the public for the first time.
