TYLER PERRY: FIRE AT STUDIO CAUSED BY CARELESS SMOKING
ATLANTA (AP) -- Careless smoking. That's what investigators in Atlanta say caused a fire at filmmaker Tyler Perry's studios. An official with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department says no criminal charges are pending in the case. The fire broke out Monday morning on the roof of a building undergoing repairs. It took firefighters about an hour to get the blaze under control. The structural integrity of the building wasn't compromised. It's the second fire at the Perry complex in recent months. In May, a fire ripped through a simulated streetscape, sending flames about six stories into the sky. Officials say the cause of the fire couldn't be found because it was so intense, any evidence that could have pointed to the cause burned up.
