CHRISTIAN BALE, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN EXPRESS SORROW AFTER "DARK KNIGHT RISES" SHOOTINGS

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- "The Dark Knight Rises" star Christian Bale says "Words cannot express the horror that I feel" in response to the shootings during a midnight screening in Aurora, Colorado, Friday that left 12 people dead. Bale says he cannot begin to understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones but his heart goes out to them. Director Christopher Nolan says the movie theater is his home and "the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me."
