"AMERICAN IDOL" LOSES RATINGS RACE

NEW YORK (AP) -- Even as The X-Factor continues to struggle to gain a foothold in the ratings game, the reigning champ has been taken down a peg. The latest Nielsen ratings are in -- and the CBS comedy "The Big Bang Theory" has come out with a larger audience than "American Idol" when the two shows were head to head. It's believed it's the first time a scripted series has knocked Idol off its perch as drawing the biggest audience. At the same time, Nielsen says Idol was still the nation's top show overall last week.
