BEND, Ore. (AP) -- A Bend teenager survived a 150-foot fall near the summit of Mount Bachelor.
Deschutes County sheriff's Cpl. Wayne Morgan says 18-year-old Thomas William Johnston had been hiking and climbing with a half-dozen friends when he fell Thursday afternoon.
Mount Bachelor employees working on projects reached Johnston first and stabilized him. Deschutes County rescuers soon joined them, aided in their climb by a chair lift.
The same lift helped Johnston down the mountain and to a waiting ambulance that took him to a Bend hospital. Morgan says the injuries are not life-threatening.
