SEATTLE (AP) — A King County judge has fined the University of Washington $720,000 for withholding public records from a faculty member who sued the university because she believed she was wrongfully denied tenure at the Tacoma campus.

The documents turned up after she lost her discrimination case in federal court.

The Seattle Times reports (http://is.gd/PP9mlc ) the woman, Isabelle Bichindaritz, believes she was denied tenure because of her gender and French national origin.

University of Washington officials say they disagree with the fine and will likely appeal.
