YACHATS, Ore. -- A sea lion stranded on Highway 101 was guided back to the ocean by troopers and rescue personnel Saturday.
Oregon State Police believe the sea lion came ashore at Bob Creek Wayside and wandered north along the highway for about a half mile, occasionally wandering into traffic lanes and creating hazardous conditions for itself and for motorists.
Responding crews blocked the sea lion from further danger for approximately a quarter-mile stretch of road.
Yachats rescue personnel assisted OSP troopers and assured the sea lion was safely sent back into the ocean at Strawberry State Park.
Troopers Scott Salisbury, Joshua Wetzel and Joe Conklin orignally responded to the report, according to OSP Lt. Gregg Hastings.
