PORTLAND -- The sudden death of a Portland family's beloved golden retriever inspired a 5-year-old boy and his mom to write a children's book.

Michael Cohn and his mom, Lisa, just finished the book "Bash and Lucy fetch confidence,” which is about a golden retriever who teaches a boys' sports team about teamwork and sportsmanship.

They held a book signing at Mississippi Pizza and donated the proceeds to the Oregon Humane Society.

Lisa Cohn is an award-winning writer who said she ended up needing her son’s help to get the book finished.

“I got kind of stuck and I called my book lover in to help me,” she said. “He had all these ideas and he became my co-author.”

Michael is such a book lover that he has a series of reviews on YouTube.
