RAINIER - The Oregon Humane Society said Wednesday six extremely underweight horses from Rainier were found safe and taken to a rescue facility.
The horses were unexpectedly moved Aug. 6 from a property on the 29000 block of Gregory Road in Rainier. OHS said the animals’ poor health combined with the high temperatures puts their lives at risk.
The animals were found in Columbia County near Goble. Earlier this week, OHS asked the media to help spread the word about the missing horses to the public.
The horses’ owner, Yvonne Byrd-Lynch, was cited in May for animal neglect. She was still missing as of Wednesday, OHS said.
“We’re happy to report that the horses were found alive and, although severely underweight, are now getting the food and medical care they need to regain their health,” said Sharon Harmon, OHS executive director.
