PORTLAND – Portland Parks & Recreation employees helped a few tiny Rose City residents reunite with their mother Thursday.
A group of baby ducklings fell into a grate at the Keller Fountain, said Mark Ross, spokesman for PP&R.
The ducklings tumbled about 6 feet under the fountain, while the mother duck watched and fretted, Ross said.
Staff worked to free the ducks, who were reunited with their relieved parents.
PP&R was working with the Portland Audobon Society to relocate the ducks to a safer, grate-free locale.
