PORTLAND - Emergency crews were able to help a Sauvie Island farmer Sunday night after a calf got stuck in the mud in the Multnomah Channel near Scappoose.
Firefighter Peter Williamson swam to the calf, harnessed and finally helped get him into a rescue boat.
The calf was eventually freed from the harness and swam ashore where he ran to his owner on Sauvie Island, crews said.
