PORTLAND – A bobcat was blamed for attacking a pet cat in a Forest Park-area neighborhood.

The Acker family was out last Friday evening and rushed home after a neighbor called. “Sunshine” suffered two puncture wounds, where the bobcat sunk its teeth.

"When I came into the garage, he was still in attack mode, hair standing up, pacing by the garage," homeowner Randy Acker said.

Sunshine should be just fine as long as the wounds heal without infection.

An Oregon Zoo official said there is a healthy population of bobcats in Forest Park, but attacks on people or pets is quite rare. If you spot one, the cats tend to be shy and quickly turn and run.
