LEBANON, Ore. -- Fourteen cats were rescued from an apartment fire in Lebanon Thursday.

Nine adult cats and five kittens suffered smoke inhalation when the fire broke out. A rescue team from the Oregon Humane Society removed the cats from the severely damaged apartment.

OHS has been in contact with the animals' owner, who decided to turn over the cats because she was overwhelmed with caring for so many pets in her apartment.
