WEST LINN, Ore. – A group of girls from West Linn found a creative way to help young cancer patients.

The “Lavender Girls” started selling lavender from their backyards. The money they raised goes towards granting wishes to children with cancer.

“The first year, it was just lavender and we didn’t raise very much money,” said Emily Henning, one of the Lavender Girls.

Henning says the group made just $47 during its first year. But now, they are creating lavender products and last year raised more than $2,000.

Local cancer patients’ wishes include a pink ukulele and Justin Bieber tickets.

“We wanted to help them feel better and it turns out there was a thing we could do,” said Henning.
