PORTLAND-- The St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Run starts Sunday, March 16 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.
With some 35,000 participants expected, the event is the largest running and walking event in Oregon and the second largest on the West Coast.
The run is actually five different races: a 15K, an 8K and a 5k run, a 5k walk and a 1k walk/run called the Leprechaun Lap. Start times are staggered throughout the morning.
Live music and food in Waterfront Park will start at 9:15 a.m.
A two-day fitness fair at the Oregon Convention Center runs Friday and Saturday. There will be over 65 exhibitors featuring fitness products, games and contests.
There may be some light rain and wind in the morning Sunday with a chance of more rain in the afternoon, according to KGW Meteorologist Matt Zaffino.
