Parents often use money, parties or other rewards to motivate kids to do well in school. But some experts now say it’s a short-term solution that can backfire.

New studies show rewarding kids with material things can negatively impact their internal motivation and creativity.

The research suggests parents should let their kids instead find motivation in the good feelings associated with success.
