PORTLAND -- Portland International Airport has entered the busy holiday season and the 700,000 travelers between Monday and Jan. 2 should heed some tips to ease passage from the parking lot to the plane.
Travelers on flights from early morning through early afternoon should arrive two hours early. This is the estimated amount of time needed for riding a shuttle, checking a bag and clearing security. Those getting dropped off or skipping baggage check need 90 minutes.
Between Dec. 21 and 27, PDX will service about 46,000 travelers each day, up five percent from a year ago.
Qualified travelers can use the Transportation Safety Admininstration Pre-Check system for quicker processing on domestic flights that includes screening of shoes, light outerwear, belt, laptop and liquids. The TSA will still use random testing throughout the screening areas of PDX.
