PORTLAND -- The Multnomah County Library has started a new service which sends text messages to alert users about everything from book renewals to late fees.
People can even send replies to renew a book or text the library if they want to put something on hold.
Director Vailey Oehlke said the hope is that this text service will also help expand the overall reach of the county library.
“We know more and more people want to interface and read books with the library via the web or their smart devices,” Oehlke explained.
Library members can sign up for the text service through the Multnomah County Library web site.
