WASHINGTON D.C. -- New government figures show that the cost of having kids continues to significantly increase.
New data just released by the United States Department of Agriculture says that children born in 2012 will end up costing their parents $241,000 over 17 years.
The number illustrated a $6,000 increase from 2011 statistics.
A breakdown of the costs showed that 30 percent went to housing, followed by childcare, education and food.
“To be honest it’s precluded us from having a second child just because of the financial realities,” said Sean Bowie, who has one child.
