Poll:
Will Oregon legalize gay marriage in the next election cycle?

PORTLAND – Although gay marriages aren’t yet legal in Oregon, gay and lesbian couples planning ceremonies had their very own wedding expo on Sunday in downtown Portland.

Rainbow Wedding Network, which compiles lists of gay-friendly wedding vendors across America, hosted its third annual wedding expo at the Elysian Ballroom.

The expo connected couples with gay-friendly entertainment, florists, cake decorators and photographers.

Organizers said the event helps put same-sex couples at ease and lets them focus on their big day.

“They don’t have to deal – they just get to be themselves,” said Marianne Puechl, spokeswoman for the Rainbow Wedding Network.

Earlier this month, Oregon republicans voted to endorse a gay-marriage initiative that could appear on the November ballot.

The group behind the initiative says it has enough signatures to bring the question to Oregon voters again.
