VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The fireworks will be blasting off on Independence Day once again at Fort Vancouver, and the entire show will be broadcast live on KGW NewsChannel 8.
This year, the event includes live musical entertainment starting at noon, building to what has historically been the biggest fireworks display west of the Mississippi River. An estimated 65,000 people attended the display in 2010.
This year, no fireworks will be launched from the barge, all fireworks will be launched from the park. Event organizers say that, as a result, the fireworks are not expected to be visible from the Portland side of the Columbia River.
The fireworks show begins at 10 p.m. KGW-TV will broadcast live from the show from 10 - 10:30 p.m. and it will also be streamed live on kgw.com.
