BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A high-end spa-type athletic club will be opening in Beaverton soon.
It’s called Villasport and offers customers a workout, water park, restaurant and spa all in one facility. Some describe it as the “Ritz Carlton of athletic clubs.”
The facility will be located at the corner of Southwest Murray Boulevard and Jenkins Road. It will include indoor and outdoor lap and recreational pools, a water park with two 26-foot water slides, a full-service spa, five studios for exercise classes, an NBA-sized indoor court, a café and a 12,000-foot children's area.
Villasport is based in San Rafael, Calif. The owners told KGW they chose Beaverton because of its location near Nike and Intel and the number of families in the area.
“Families are more settled. They're interested in quality of life and this is something that can enhance everybody's quality of life,” said Villasport CEO Joe Syufy. “So we see a real opportunity here.”
Construction will take about 11 months and the $40 million project will create some 250 jobs
“We don't have anything quite like this on this scale,” said Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle. “It's a great use of a busy intersection and it's just going to work well.”
When it opens next summer, memberships for a family of four will run about $175 a month.
