PORTLAND – More than 30,000 participants were expected for the 34th annual Portland Shamrock Run, scheduled for Sunday, March 18, 2012.
The race includes five different events, starting with 15K challenge at 7:45 a.m. An 8K race follows at 8:15. The 1K "Leprechaun Lap" for kids starts at 8:45 and the 5K run starts at 9:20.
There is also a “Shamrock Stride” — for walkers only — beginning at 9:35.
All events start at the corner of SW Naito Parkway and SW Pine Street.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation.
The Shamrock run is the second-largest running event in Portland, after the Komen Race for the Cure.
