PORTLAND, Ore. – Union Gospel Mission served more than 800 Thanksgiving meals to those in need on Thursday. Preparations for the meals started early.
The event took place at the Union Gospel Mission at 15 Northwest Third from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and for the first time this year, it took place inside the mission.
The menu included the turkey and all the fixings; mashed potatoes, stuffing and fresh candied yams, made from scratch.
Guests were also gifted a to-go bag of warm winter clothes, including socks, as well as a snack bag.
