FORT LEWIS, Wash. -- Family and friends said good bye to a Gresham soldier Thursday, who was remembered as a wonderful soldier and friend.

Deuce Four Recon Platoon

U.S. Army Sgt. Adam Plumondore of Gresham while on patrol duty recently in Iraq.

A memorial service was held in the Evergreen Chapel on the Army base at Fort Lewis for 22-year-old Sgt. Adam Plumondore and two other members of the Stryker Brigade Combat Team who were recently killed in Iraq.

Plumondore died last week in Mosul, where he was the victim of a roadside bomb.

He was honored along with Sgt. Frank B. Hernandez, 21, of Phoenix, Arizona, who was killed last Thursday by a roadside bomb at Tal Afar, and Spc. Clinton R. Gertson, 26, of Houston, Texas, killed on Saturday by enemy fire in Mosul.

The three men were members of the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, also known as the Stryker brigade.

Plumondore was the 40th soldier with Oregon ties to be killed in the Iraq war.
