BEAVERTON -- A teenager has died after getting struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Thursday night.
It happened just after 5 p.m., near the intersection of NW 119th Avenue and NW Kearny Street. Eighteen-year-old Cassidy Ringwald was walking with his 21-year-old sister when a car came up behind them, hitting Ringwald and sending him flying 15-20 feet in the air, according to Sgt. David Thompson of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Numerous people rushed to help until an ambulance arrived and then Ringwald was brought to Legacy Emanuel Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died overnight, according to the hospital staff.
Thompson said that Ringwald and his sister had been walking with traffic as opposed to against it.
Deputies have received two different descriptions of the suspect vehicle and said a driver called police Friday morning, taking responsibility for the accident. But police said no arrests had been made as of 8 a.m.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 503-629-0111.
