TIMBER, Ore. – A KGW crew covering snow in the Oregon Coast Range Tuesday afternoon came to the aid of a woman who crashed her SUV right in front of them.

The accident happened along Highway 26, just west of Timber. KGW reporter Tim Gordon and photographer Rod Stevens were videotaping the snow-covered roadway when the driver passed by and suddenly lost control of her SUV.

Linda Goss’s vehicle spun into the oncoming lane and then rolled, hitting hard against the hillside.

An Oregon State Police trooper had Tim Gordon hold Goss’s head, to stabilize it, until paramedics arrived. Goss also suffered an injured hand.

Once she was stabilized, she was gracious enough to talk to Tim on camera, to explain what happened.

“Just suddenly, the wheels just started sliding and I had no control of the steering wheel. So I let go if it and went into the bank and rolled, and here I am,” she recalled.

Paramedics got Goss, 62, of Seaside, on a stretcher and she was transported by ambulance to Providence St. Vincent Hospital for treatment.

After that, the KGW crew saw another car slide out of control at the same location. Their experience served as a stark warning for drivers: be extremely cautious on the slick roads.
